I’m not sure if Angel City were expecting a rainy game but Portland seemed to have enjoyed the rainy night. The game ended in a 3-0 win for Portland who advance to the playoffs. Angel City FC were playing their last game of the season but were mentally going into this game as if it were the Championship Final. ACFC didn’t let the standings get into their mindset, they were determined to win and leave everything on the field as stated by ACFC head coach Becki Tweed ahead of Fridays game.
“You always go into every game with the mindset that you want to win. That is no different for us this week.” “We’re going to go out and leave everything we have out on the field.” - Becki Tweed
A season with Highs and Lows for ACFC, ultimately ending early without playoffs this year.
Key Takeaways
Christen Press is back and ready to score, Press was part of the starting XI vs Portland. You can see the skills she brings, and the influence she has on other players.

Gisele Thompson is getting minutes in, and her skills are showing on the field. Her ability to defend and get into dangerous areas offensively will be key to ACFC’s scoring chances next season. She is definitely a player to look out for next season.

“We’ve had different lineups each game, with players in and out. “That it’s going to be really important for us next season to build relationships on the field. “We say this all the time, we have the team, the grit, and the love of the game. We have the energy and now we just need to put the pieces together.”

The roster speaks for itself, the talent is there and the attitude is there, a few missing pieces to the puzzle and I’m sure we will see ACFC in the Playoffs in 2025. The three goals came from Christine Sinclair, Sophia Smith, and Morgan Weaver. This was also Sinclair’s last game where her retirement was celebrated alongside her team and fans.
