Going into Sundays game, ACFC players and fans already knew the playoffs were over for them. Bay FC’s 1-0 win Saturday night made playoffs mathematically impossible for ACFC.

For Angel City FC, the 2024 season was cut short after a 3 points deduction issued by the league put them further away from the playoffs.

The club had a pre match celebration for Christen press in her 100th career start. Press #23 was not in the starting line up, but was subbed in at the 67th minute of the game replacing #24 Messiah Bright.

The starting line up was missing some key players but still a dangerous attacking line up with Alyssa Thompson, Messiah Bright, and Claire Emslie upfront.

The 20th minute brought a yellow card to Madison Curry followed by a Utah Royals goal in the 21st minute. Another yellow card was issued to ACFC forward Alyssa Thompson in the 22nd minute. The first half ended in a 1-0 score.

The second half was full of action with Angel City FC securing a goal in the 57th minute by #2 Sydney Leroux with an assist from #20 Gisele Thompson. After several good moments, the game finished in a 1-1 draw.

Some Game Day take aways

Sarah Gorden was so good defensively, she won player of the match for her defensive grit throughout the game. Next time I’m going to ask her what her pre game meals are because she was on fire 🔥. As a Captain should, Sarah regrouped her team after going down 1-0 and helped push out a draw.

Alyssa Thompson was also another player who never stopped. She is so quick to the ball and gets into dangerous positions so effortlessly, no wonder Team USA can’t wait to have her back on the roster.

Angel City FC Goalkeeper DiDi Haračić set a new club record Saturday night with nine saves in a single game versus Utah Royals FC.

All things considered, the fans still showed up for the last home game of the season which was also fan appreciation night with an attendance of 20,039. It’s safe to say fans will return in 2025 to continue cheering on Angel City FC.
