Losing their Home Opener versus San Diego FC and losing versus St. Louis, have kept the club without a win at home and in 14th place in the western conference. LA are looking to turn that around Saturday night with the team’s momentum from the 2-2 draw last week away against Minnesota.
A Goal from forward Christian Ramírez and a late Equalizer from Emiro Garcés helped bring a point back on the road.
Unfortunately for LA, this Orlando team had been off to a great start and historically given the LA Galaxy trouble.
“Saturday’s match marks the eighth all-time regular-season meeting between the LA Galaxy and Orlando City SC” “The last meeting between the two teams, LA fell 2-0 on the road to Orlando City SC at Exploria Stadium on April 29, 2023. In three all-time matches played at Dignity Health Sports Park against the Lions, the Galaxy hold a 2-1-0 record.” - LA Galaxy
LA Galaxy Head Coach Greg Vanney said in a press conference earlier this week, “They're a good team, you know, to be honest, I think in possession there, they're the team that probably most expresses similar characteristics to us”
“I think they have some really interesting sort of fluid parts and possession and some guys, some good quality players. “They look comfortable on the ball. “And some guys that can hurt you on on the attack” “They're a good team that you have to do a really good job of containing” - Greg Vanney
Fortunately for LA, they get difference maker Joseph Paintsil back on the roster Saturday Night.
There’s no doubt he will help the team as he did last season, but the question remains how in shape he is, and how much Greg, LA Galaxy Head Coach is willing to let him play.
LA Galaxy Player Tucker Lepley also had some things to say when asked if the team was hungry for a Win.
“This team is hungry for a win every week, every game we want to win, uh I think that's the mentality we all have for our teammates, you know, the guys that are battling injuries right now, give everything for them, give everything for the coaches who are, you know, setting up training and getting us prepared every week, and then for the fans, the fans deserve wins and results and, you know, we hope to give that to them.” - Tucker Lepley
Saturday’s game is a must win for many reasons, LA needs to capitalize on the Home games, LA has another difficult game next Tuesday, and the team needs the full momentum to move up the standings and give the fans those unbeaten home game streaks they got used to in 2024.
